The 2 ounce Silver Mexican Libertad is .999 fine silver, and one of the most beautiful silver coins in the world. The reverse depicts two key symbols of the Mexican people: Independence Angel in the forefront and the Mexican volcanoes, Popocatepetl and Iztaccihautl, in the background.
Independence Angel is the main historic monument for the Mexican people, and is considered the symbol of Mexico City. The Mexican volcanoes memorialize the legend of the two lovers from whom they were named.
The obverse features the National Emblem surrounded by the legend “Estados Unidos Mexicanos.” Outlining this along the contour of the frame is the reproduction of various emblems used throughout Mexico’s history.
