GSA Dollars - APMEX offers a superb selection of GSA Non-Carson City Silver Dollars.

Before they were revealed to the public in 1964, millions of Silver Dollar coins had been lying undiscovered in the U.S. Treasury vaults for decades. Beginning in 1972, the coins were dispersed by the General Services Administration in a series of eight sales limited to citizens of the U.S. Two additional sales known as the “GSA Hoard Sales” followed in 1980.

Upon sorting the coins, the government found 112,145 coins that had not been created from the famous Carson City, Nevada mint. These silver dollars were in both circulated and uncirculated condition and contained mint marks from the Philadelphia Mint, New Orleans Mint, San Francisco Mint, and Denver Mint. Because these coins were not minted in Carson City, coin collectors came to call them GSA Non-Carson City Silver Dollars.
