At 12PM (CT) the APMEX precious metal prices were:
- Gold price - $1,380.80
- Silver price - $29.19
- Platinum price - $1,736.50
- Palladium price - $767.00
COMMENTARY: Gold and silver are down slightly, but considering the Chinese announcement to raise interest rates, this is a show of strength.. Police defused a bomb this morning at the Greek embassy in Rome, just four days after two people were injured at two other diplomatic missions in Rome. Another suspicious package was reported earlier today in Rome as well as a bomb alert at the Finnish embassy and the Albanian embassy, both turned out to be false alarms. North and South Korean tensions are in the news. South Korean President Lee is sharpening his language against the North under the perception his past responses were not tough enough. This geopolitical unrest will continue to support gold prices.
Platinum and palladium prices continue to go up on supply side issues. Platinum spot price is up $12.40 and Palladium spot is up $7.90
Gold spot price is off 20 cents and silver spot is down 15 cents
