Morning Gold & Silver Market Report – 8/11/2014

GOLD FLAT AMID EASING TENSIONS

Gold and Silver prices are relatively flat in early-morning trading due to easing tensions between Russia and Ukraine. Russia has ended its military operations near the Ukrainian border, which were highly criticized by other countries as a reason for some of the tensions. Though some analysts believe this situation is the sole reason for Gold’s price increase over the past two months, though issues in Iraq and Israel could also stoke investor fears.

U.S. stock futures are pointing towards a higher open for Wall Street this morning. Federal Reserve Vice Chairman Stanley Fischer said that the Fed and many others have reduced long-term expectations for U.S. growth due to disappointing rebounds in advanced economies. Fischer also said that the jury is still out on whether the U.S. economy was permanently damaged by the recession. Finally, Fischer said that monetary policy will still be needed to support the recovery in the U.S.
