Mid- Day Gold & Silver Market Report – 4/14/2011

GOLD & SILVER RISING RAPIDLY – The disappointing jobs data along with mixed earnings reports  are causing investors to move away from stocks and into precious metals.  Gold is currently up $16.40 – Silver is up $1.42

Pimco Co-Chief Executive, Mohamed El-Erian, stated on CNBC today, that first quarter growth could be a surprise to the downside."I think people are going to be surprised that the first quarter, which was initially thought to be a four percent quarter, may end up two percent or below," he said.  "I don't think we are near a recession but I think we are weakening," El-Erian said. "Watch the housing market. I think the housing market is again key. It won't go away."

Things continue to heat up in Libya . as NATO airplanes launched attacks on the nation’s capitol, Tripoli.

AT 12PM (CT) the APMEX precious metal prices were:

  • Gold price - $1,472.10 (up $16.40)
  • Silver price - $41.73 (up $1.44)
  • Platinum price – $1,793.30 (up $17.10)
  • Palladium price - $774.00 (up $7.70)
