Morning Commentary – 10/18/2010

by Mike Garofalo October 18, 2010

At 8AM (CT) the APMEX spot prices were:

  • Gold - $1,363.50
  • Silver - $24.13
  • Platinum - $1,682.50
  • Palladium - $584.00

COMMENTARY -  The US Dollar rebounded overnight in Europe against other currencies, sending the price of Gold downward. The US Dollar’s strength is not a sign of US long-term economic good health; the market believes this to be more of a correction. Gold seems to be taking its direction from currency markets. Gold prices also jumped sharply higher last week on signals by Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke that “additional monetary stimulus may be warranted.”
