I have bought my first Scruffy Chinese Panda and it was a great buy. The quality was only slightly scratched but for the most part looked new. The important thing to remember about Gold is that the reputation of the metal is so great that no one is going to care if there are a few scratches or not. The only important thing is to own it and to own as much as posible. Buy as low as you can so that you get your money back quicker, and buy from APMEX cause they work very hard to place the best deals in your hands.
