I ordered three of these bars when they were .99 over spot. The bars themselves are really nice, but like some other reviewers have posted, the plastic that they come in is pretty much useless. All three had holes in the plastic around the corners and the sealed edges come apart just from handling. I plan on repacking these in heavier duty vacuum seal bags to try to help keep them looking good.

I ordered 3 of these bars, one at a time. The first 2 were beautiful, the 3rd bar was ruffed up along the northwest edge of the bar. The plastic that it was sealed in was ripped along the seal marks along the long edge of the bar, exposing the whole bar to outside air. The scuff mark at the NW corner looked like the surface of sandpaper. When I called the shipping dept at APMEX, the customer service rep informed me that they purchase these bars that way, and they cant guarantee a blemish free bar every time. She assured me that with bullion, it doesn't affect the value only the weight matters. I wonder if it is only the APMEX brand silver bars that are scuffed like this. Maybe I will try sunshine 10 oz bars next time.

Bars came on time. The brilliance and weight of this bar is nothing short of spectacular. That is where I have mixed feelings. The soft, plastic coated wraps that came with the bars had deteriorated over time and the vacuum seal inside had come undone allowing the bars to move freely around causing excessive plastic burns and haze inside. As a direct result, the side rims of the bars wore off as well. Also, stacking the bars during shipment caused a gash on one of the front rims. Overall, if you expect to receive a perfectly minted, packaged bars, you will be disappointed, but if you are serous about pm retaining bullion value, Apmex is a great place to shop as they often have spontaneous sales.
