The USS Houston and the HMAS Perth engaged in a battle with a Japanese fleet at the Sunda Strait. Both ships were sunk, but not before doing some significant damage to the Japanese. Depicted on the reverse of this bimetal coin is an image of the original bell of the USS Houston. The 60th Anniversary of this battle is the purpose of this commemorative.
