The Ancient Silk Road Coin Collection
The Ancient Silk Road, named by German scholar Baron Ferdinand von Richthofen,stretched thousands of miles through deserts and mountains from China to Europe. It was first traveled by Zhang Qian when he was sent on a diplomatic mission to the Western Regions in the Han dynasty (206 BC - AD 220). At that point in history the Han dynasty and the empire of Parthia in Persia were in their golden age, supporting development of this route. The Romans loved silk so much that it was even exchanged for it's weight in gold.
This is a superb collection of 20 different genuine bronze coins depicting the travels of the Ancient Silk Road. Each coin is protected in an archival capsule and beautifully displayed in a delux custom made hardwood case. This set comes with a plaque listing the twenty coins and a certificate of authenticty. |
