In honor of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, British Columbia, the Royal Canadian Mint released this beautiful Gold coin to commemorate the event. This year’s issue depicts a thunderbird, with small maple leafs swirling in the wind created from its wings, on the reverse. The Susanna Blunt designed likeness of Queen Elizabeth II is featured on the obverse of this Gold coin, alongside an image of the logo of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
This Gold coin is the second in a three coin series commemorating the 2010 Winter Olympics, each featuring a different design. Sets of all three coins are also available through APMEX!

This is the most beautiful gold coin in my opinion. It's too bad that they're becoming harder to find, as the Royal Canadian Mint only minted 50,000 of them.

The picture does not do justice at all. You really have to see it yourself to believe it. Beautifully done and certainly one that you will cherish for a long time and pass on to your children.

What a great alternative Reverse design for the Maple, the best of the 3 reverse's for the 2010 Olympics series. This Totem design really works great in gold, more so than in silver. The spinning & turning leaves along the top border of the design is a really nice touch. As usual, I'm over the QEII profiles - but at least the Maples have a different one than the other commonwealth countries mints use.
