This large gold coin is part of Liberia's Tanks of World War II series. This coin pays tribute to the M4 Sherman, the primary U.S. tank deployed during World War II. Although outclassed by the German Tiger and Panther tanks, the Sherman's sheer weight of numbers (almost 50,000 were built during the war) helped turn the tide for the Allies in many battles in North Africa and Western Europe.

The National Arms of Liberia appear on the obverse of this issue. A standard M4 Sherman on the battlefield with paratroopers in the backround highlight the reverse of this coin.
