The centennial of America's founding! America was officially 100 years old when this coin was minted. It was also in this year that Alexander Graham Bell's telephone was invented. This coin is the popular Type 2 variety which adds the motto "In God We Trust" to the Reverse. In fact, it was the last year of issue for this particular type when in 1877 the Type 3, which can be identified by the words "Twenty Dollars" being spelled out, ran until the end of the series in 1907. This coin still retains quite a bit of luster and strong detail. Graded Almost Uncirculated-53 by NGC.
