Massive 5 Kilo Silver coin!
Issued by the British Virgin Islands as part of a set celebrating the 500th Anniversary of the Discovery of America, this coin was struck in honor of Amerigo Vespucci, an Italian born explorer whose first name is generally believed to be the source of the name "America" in the Western Hemisphere.

The reverse depicts a scene of Vespucci and a sailing ship superimposed over the approaches of the Americas. A likeness of Queen Elizabeth II is on the obverse. The coin is two pieces, with a center core and outer ring. Each piece has a face value of $250.

The total Silver content of this Proof is 160.75 troy oz. A compass and other navigational tools are included in the handsome display case along with a Certificate of Authenticity.
