This Proof Silver coin features a colored representation of the White Star Line’s poster design of the Titanic set against the ocean and sky, designed by Aleysha Howarth. The inscriptions "Titanic," "100th Anniversary" and the Perth Mint's "P" mintmark are also incorporated into the design. The Ian Rank-Broadley likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination are shown on the obverse. Comes complete with box, numbered CoA and illustrated shipper.
Sailing into collectible history is our tribute to the centenary of the Titanic. This is great news for lovers of maritime history and Titanic aficionados. The Titanic was the world’s most famous passenger ship disaster. On a cold, moonless night just before midnight, the supposedly unsinkable R.M.S. Titanic struck an iceberg.
Moments before impact, lookout Frederick Fleet peered into the darkness in horror at the approach of a menacing black shape. With the icy monolith just yards away, his alarm initiated frantic efforts to slow the ship and change course, but the efforts proved fruitless. Over the next few hours, an estimated 1,517 doomed souls met their watery fate in the freezing waters of the North Atlantic.
The grave of RMS Titanic, resting deep in the North Atlantic, remains a memorial to those that lost their lives and a testament to those who bore the lifelong sorrow of that loss.
