This pure Proof Gold coin depicts the first encounter with the kangaroo. Botanist Joseph Banks brought a specimen of the unusual creature back to England in 1773 and commissioned George Stubbs to paint its likeness. Engraved and published in the official account of the Endeavour's voyage, it embodies Europe's fascination with Australia's native wildlife. The obverse has the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, as designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. This coin comes complete with box and an accompanying numbered certificate of authenticity.
