This is the second year of the series which pays tribute to characters of French literature. This year the adventurers are in the spotlight. The third coin this year depicts Puss in Boots (Le Chat Botte), who is described as cunning and dishonest in order to gain wealth for his master.
The obverse of this silver coin has Puss in Boots standing in a period costume with his master's castle in the background. The reverse has a portrait of Charles Perrault, who laid the foundations for the new literary genre, the fairytale. Also included is the quote from the story in French:
Quelque grand que soit l’avantage de jouir d’un riche héritage, l’industrie et le savoir-faire valent mieux que des biens acquis".
