5 Reasons You Should Collect America The Beautiful (ATB) Bullion Coins

Lower Mintage - Unlike the U.S. Mint's Silver American Eagle that is minted millions of times a year, each America The Beautiful coin has a relatively low mintage number that creates an automatic scarcity in the market. Some of these mintages are drastically low like the Hawaii Volcano National Park Silver bullion quarter coin. There were only 20,000 of these coins produced.

Increased Popularity – In 2015, every ATB bullion coin sold out at the United States Mint only weeks after the coins went on sale to the U.S. Mint authorized purchasers. For example, the Kistachie National Forest America the Beautiful bullion coin sold out of what the U.S. Mint produced the first day the coins went on sale to authorized purchasers.

Uniqueness - Each America The Beautiful coin has a beautiful, scenic view of an American National Park, Monument or Forest that any collector would be proud to hold. Many of these landmarks come from a result of the Antiquities Act of June 8, 1906 championed by Teddy Roosevelt. This allowed then President Roosevelt, as well as succeeding Presidents, to appoint these types of parks and monuments into Federal protection and ownership. This only makes it fitting that the fourth release of 2016 features President Roosevelt riding his horse through the Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota.

Limited Production Years - Production on this collection ends in 2021. It’s ideal to get in now when premiums are lower, not when they have already risen. As a collector, the earlier you can get started means the better chance of longer term accumulation of value that will only raise year after year long after the last ATB coin has been minted.

Premium Increase - Premiums for several releases have increased steadily, sometimes slowly and sometimes drastically. Like most collection investments, premiums tend to increase based on the number of coins available to the market. For example, when comparing the difference in premiums between the 2012 El Yunque National Forest coin that was only minted 24,000 times to the 2011 Glacier National Park coin that was minted 126,700 coins, you will notice a stark difference in the premium price for each coin.

This is not to say you should not consider purchasing every coin in this collection. This example only references the correlation between mintage levels and premium levels within a specific coin series.
