2012 Silver Eagle Anniversary Sets - In 2012, the U.S. Mint at San Francisco celebrated its 75th anniversary. To honor this milestone, the mint released special 2-coin sets featuring coins minted in San Francisco.
Released in 1986, the Silver American Eagle is the most popular bullion coin in the United States. The obverse features Adolph A. Weinman’s beautiful Walking Liberty design originally used on Silver Half Dollars from 1916 through 1947. The reverse design depicts John Mercanti’s rendition of an eagle and a shield, symbolic of American strength and pride.
Each of these 75th anniversary sets comes with the Proof Silver coin as well as the Reverse Proof Silver coin. Both coins have the "S" mint mark, standing for the San Francisco Mint. Each set comes with a box and certificate of authenticity from the mint.
