Rare Colonial Coins
Colonial Coins - Before the American Revolution, the American colonies relied upon foreign coins such as Spanish Milled Dollars and British circulating coins to transact business in America. A number of colonies decided to strike their own coins while others contracted with private individuals and companies to mint coins. The overall circulation of products for these coins was very small. This resulted in a range of coinage that has become very dear to collectors over the years. The rarity of colonial coins is especially intriguing because they are the longest-lasting coins ever struck on American soil. Rare colonial coins make great gifts for friends and family, but they also make great collectible items for numismatic enthusiasts throughout the world.
Below you will find varieties of colonial coinage, from non-U.S. issues to colonial coins and continental coin currency. Colonial coins are very hard to come by because so much time has passed and other forms of coins and currency were created, but you can find old coins at APMEX that are inspected and quality assured.
