$1 - $100 U.S. Notes
Issued between 1928 and the 1960s, Red Seal notes were backed only by the credit of the U.S. government. Despite that fact, they were issued at a time when money was redeemable for gold or silver. These notes had a red treasury seal and red serial numbers. Red Seal notes were issued in $1.00, $2.00, $5.00 and $100 denominations.
