I ordered one of these

By  Richie Rich

4.0

I am slowly working on having one of every year, so I ordered one of these. I probably should keep trying the random coin orders until I get to the nitty gritty. I got this and it is in very great shape. I also ordered 20 BU condition random years, and 20 cull condition random year coins. For the 20 BU coins I actually got a full roll of unopened 1985 coins, so.... I didn't need to buy this single coin. In the random 20 cull condition coins I got three 1985 coins, and those are actually almost, or maybe just as good as this one. So, once again I didn't need to order this as a single. I will say this, for the newer year, single coin orders, those coins look near flawless. Those made some other coins that I thought were very nice, not look so nice anymore. This particular single coin order of 1985 didn't standout as being better than the other 1985 coins that I got. For the newer years you will can see a pretty big difference if you order the BU coins.

5.0

Pros

  • Recognized Brand
  • Collectible (lower mintage)
  • Easy to Sell
  • Mint Condition
  • Attractive Design

Cons

  • None

The vintage Libertads are always nice. Blast White finish. Quality was superb. Premium was acceptable. Keep in mind--these coins are 30 years old. They won't be MS 70s or 69s.

coin received with dents and scratches

2.0

Pros

  • Attractive Design
  • Recognized Brand

Cons

  • Poor Condition

I bought this '85 libertad as my birth-year piece but the item received is scratched badly on the skirt with a few noticeable dents elsewhere. I didn't have the time to look at the item closely until a few days ago and found to my disappointment that the item I paid 10+ dollars over spot price is flawed!!Yikes! It makes me feel bad because I bought it as my birth-year coin and I probably cannot exchange it with apmex because it's no longer within the 15-day limits.

Pretty good

Based on what I have seen so far, one could expect to see some slight imperfections due to the age of the coins minted in the 80's. This coin however, came in pretty good shape considering it's age. Overall, this was a very satisfying purchase and I am happy to own an older coin that is still in good shape.

Brilliant Uncirculated Mexican Onzas

I acquired these and other early 1980's Onzas because of their purity and the way they felt in my hand. Buy some for yourself and you will see what I mean. Their Brilliant Uncirculated condition makes them shiny and better looking than I expected. This is not a dainty silver coin. So far I have noticed minimal contact and bag marks. Their is no downside for me regarding the Mexican Onzas...except maybe the premium but even that is not unreasonable.

Beautiful thick coin

this is very unique silver coin older libertad designs are smaller and thicker which makes so attractive to hold and fondle. I haven't yet to find a similar form factor one downside is that there are no air-tite available for this specific coin, because it's too thick. I have searched everywhere but I couldn't find any. then I took my silver panda into H40 capsule and used empty silver panda casing to hold libertad! it's rattles a bit but this is only capsule thick enough to hold this coin!

Beautiful Coin

Beautiful coin, I like the older style Libertad design very much especially the printed edge. I'll pick these up from time to time as the price over spot is reasonable.

A great looking and "sounding" coin. You can slide it up in the air and the sound that comes off this coin is able to be picked up. A ping (or ting) test produces a beautiful sound that lasts for a second or two. Try doing that with a 1oz bar!

The 1985 Libertad is a great way to get started on your collection of Libertads. It has a lower premium than many years, and yet is a widely recognized bullion coin.
