Pre-1965 90% Silver coins, sometimes referred to as junk Silver or scrap Silver, are a great way to start your Silver investments. These Silver coins were pulled from circulation with the introduction of copper/nickel clad coins and the rising demand of Silver. The public saved them for their 90% Silver content as a rainy day fund they can fall back on.

How much are Mercury Dimes worth? While certain Mercury dimes have numismatic value, most are what is commonly called "junk Silver." Junk Silver refers to any 90% Silver U.S. coin without numismatic value. Mercury dimes are a great entrance to Silver stacking for both investors and collectors. At APMEX, you can purchase 90% Silver Mercury dimes by the bag!

Little disappointed. I ended up getting 36 roosevelts in there, one of which was a 2002. They did exchange them. It was about 80% 1940s.

90% Silver Mercury Dime $100 Face-Value Bag

The small denomination and intrinsic value would come in handy in times of economic disaster. The coins were in poor condition, but that is what I expected.

Junk?

By  rwmmint

Considered junk silver with a near microscopic premium per coin, these circulated mercury dimes, mostly from the 1940's have great eye appeal. I remember some of our local gas stations in the 1980's would trade one of these for a gallon of gasoline. It could happen again.

Pros

  • Value (low premium over spot)
  • Attractive Design
  • Recognized Brand

Bought these dimes as a good hedge against inflation. Low denomination would make it easy to trade for goods or services in case of emergencies. The design is classic esp compared to the Roosevelt dime.

Pros

  • Always Liked The Design
  • Value (low premium over spot)

Winged Liberty Head dimes as advertised.

By  Ollie

Product was as advertised. The bag contained 1002 silver dimes, most of them Mercuries with maybe a bakers dozen of Roosevelt. All kinds of years and mint marks, with a couple of 1916s, one of them in fairly good shape. A very fun way to buy silver.

Pros

  • Collectible (lower mintage)
  • Recognized Brand
  • Easy to Sell
  • Attractive Design
  • Value (low premium over spot)
