Robert Aitken designed this coin that was minted to celebrate the opening of the California-Pacific International Exposition, held in San Diego in both 1935 and 1936. This 1935 coin was minted at the San Francisco mint. The obverse depicts Minerva with a shield, a golden bear and a California Forty-Niner in the background. The reverse depicts the two most prominent buildings of the Exposition.
