I remember this coin from when I was a boy. It having all manner of desirability to the young collector. The design depicts the court and ball player of Tlachtli, a deadly game w/ritual significance for the Aztec.

Pros

  • Attractive Design
  • Collectible (lower mintage)
  • Recognized Brand

I ordered two of these coins to go with the one my grandfather gave me years ago. I've always loved the design and the size of the coin. I was excited to see APMEX had it available. One of the coins I received was in mint condition. The other a little tarnished, but still very light wear. Now I have one of these to hand down to each of my kids some day.

Pros

  • Attractive Design

A little disappointed

I ordered this coin because it celebrates a very important national event and it had a very attractive design as all Mexican coins have. Although it did mention in the description that not all the olympic pesos were going to be AU, what i got was really disappointing. I did not mind the grime and dirt on the coin but the coin i got had a lot of noticeable dings and dents around the rim of the coin. I probably won't be ordering this coin on this website due to the better specimens i have received from other online websites.

Pros

  • Attractive Design

Cons

  • Poor Condition

A couple of these have been handled, but most are certainly BU+ and mexican patina!

Coin may not be as described

I bought two of these; one was in AU (almost BU) condition in full luster. I was very happy with that coin. But other one was dirty, black colored, no luster, and had something sticky on it; I was disappointed with that one, so I returned it asking for an exchange. When a different one came, it was in AU condition, and I was happy with the condition.

Pros

  • Attractive Design
  • Recognized Brand

Cons

  • Common (higher mintage)
  • Poor Condition

If you're looking for clean quality coins buy single coins in a plastic sleeve. I have purchased 47 of these coins. All the coins in the plastic sleeves look new while the coins in the 20 coin tubes are old and dirty circulated coins.
