There's one thing that I see as the end all on these coins, and that is the price. When I look at what these coins cost from a theoretical ounce point of view, they are generally one of, if not the, least expensive form of gold that you can buy. Most of the time, these coins are less expensive than generic gold rounds or bars.

I ordered two of these and received two 1912 year coins. Now, they were not in perfect condition, but they were pretty decent considering they are 102 years old. There were a few scuffs and scratches and what I would just call wear. So, if you are expecting to get coins that seem to have never seen the light of day, you will probably be disappointed. I felt that the AU-BU rating was a little generous. However, if you expect to get gold coins that are known worldwide, that are in decent condition, and are a great value, this is the deal for you.

Bottom line, these coins are gold. They are an inexpensive way to buy gold, and pay very little premium to do so. I look forward to adding a large amount of these to my collection over the years.

APMEX did a great job of communication and delivery was excellent.

The sovereign I received had a lot of scuff marks on both sides and appeared to have too much wear to be AU. I considered returning it, but decided it was too much effort for a single coin. Hopefully, others in the batch are in better shape.

Comments about British Gold Sovereign (Average Circulated):

I have been a fractual investor since March of 2014. The British Sovereign is a great coin to invest in as it is basically, universally recognized. It is also legal tender with a nominal value of one pound. Although I have purchased and diversified with other products, this on remains my favorite.

              Service and delivery comments:

Excellent delivery: timely and well-packaged in a discrete container.

An excellent way to start investing in Gold. I bought four on the 17th and had them in my hand on the 30th. All were in good shape two of which were near perfect.

I ordered 4 of these coins and recieved them in a timely fashion. All were different dates 2 of which were perfect, near proof in how they glowed. The other two were ok a little worn but not bad. I shouldn't be so tough on the other two I recieved as they are advertised, but wow the other two I ordered were amazing.

A slice of history. I ordered two of these, and both are worn but pretty well preserved - the oldest from 1887. I'd recommend these for collectors, not stackers.

Excellent coins and a bargain! At first I was not sure about buying a coin with such a strange weight (.2354 oz), but I love the history of this coin. So I did the math (price divided by weight) and got the price of what a theoretical ounce would cost. This turns out to be one of the best deals!
Yes, the coins are not perfect, but still in good condition and I love the design! Each coin comes in its own soft plastic protector that opens on one end.
