Favorite "fractional" Au coin, by FAR!

By  Wicked Val

5.0

This is by far my favorite "fractional" Gold coin. Like most P.M. holders, I started by buying the common American & Canadian 1/4 & 1/10 TOZ coins for smaller denominations. As I gained more experience, I've settled on the "Swiss 20 Franc" piece as my absolute favorite smaller piece, because of many reasons- all listed above!

Pros

  • Recognized Brand
  • Value (low premium over spot)
  • Collectible (lower mintage)
  • Easy to Sell
  • Attractive Design

Great Experience

I ordered this Swiss 20 Franc gold coin on Sunday night, got it by Wednesday at noon. Packaging as always was secure and doesn't attract attention, even though it spent about one minute in my mail box. I have been interested in older Euro gold for some time, and the Swiss in particular, as it is one of the few coins minted with a date of my dad's birth. However this is one of those offerings where you have to take a random date for a better price. Not a huge deal. The coin I got was a 1935, so ostensibly 80 years old. I'm a little unclear about the restrikes for this product. Advertised as an AU, it was at least that, could possibly rate as an MS 60 or 61, I'm not trained real well on condition. The reverse was definitely BU while the obverse had some face scratches. But the eye appeal of the coin exceeded the advertised description. To me this is a cool issue and I will be back to buy more in the future. Oh, and coin was shipped in a stiff clear flip.

Pros

  • Recognized Brand
  • Value (low premium over spot)
  • Attractive Design
  • Easy to Sell

Cons

  • Couldn't Pick My Own Date
  • Common (higher mintage)

I own various European coins similar to this size/denomination and the Swiss Franc I received is, relatively speaking, far and away the finest coin in my collection.

Pros

  • Value (low premium over spot)
  • Collectible (lower mintage)
  • Mint Condition
  • Attractive Design
  • Recognized Brand

a pretty coin

I sampled a group of available gold coins in my last purchase for addition to my portfolio. This was one of the prettiest designs that I got and became eligible for further purchases. The Swiss sourcing has been internationally recognized for financial purposes for decades. But for the high premium over spot, I would probably have already bought some more of them. May eventually do so anyway.

Pros

  • Recognized Brand
  • Attractive Design

Cons

  • High Premium Over Spot

Excellent Condition

Received a 1915 in excellent condition. Very attractive and the .1867 weight is a great alternative to a 1/10 ounce coin. Will be adding more to my holdings.

Pros

  • Nice Weight
  • Attractive Design
  • Value (low premium over spot)

Beautiful coins, looks like its somewhere between a quarter and nickel in size. Their in great condition, mine was dated 1927 but looks like it could have been minted last year! I will definitely be buying more Swiss Francs in the future.
