Not as nice as expected

This was my first time purchasing junk silver from Apmex. I ordered 14 dollars face value and 28 Washington Quarters and 28 Liberty Quarters is what I received. Only 2 of the Liberty Quarters had visible dates. Stacked up next to each other the Liberty Quarters are 1/2" shorter than Washingtons. This is the first time I was not happy with my order. I will order again just not this product.

Lower quality than expected

I ordered $6.00 worth of 90% silver American coins. The denomination I received was the quarter. I am happy with the condition of all but one of the quarters I received. The condition of the coins is supposed to be average circulation. The quarter in question can not even be dated and all of the fluting is gone. If this is APMEX's idea of average circulation I will not be buying my junk silver through them anymore. Rather, I will buy local so I can inspect what I am buying and not have to trust someone else's judgment. The caption under the picture of this item read "This photograph illustrates the quality of the coin(s) you will receive, not the exact item. "Random Years" coins will be dates of our choosing." Every coin pictured in the ad had a date and lettering that were legible. The only legible word on the coin in question, front or back, is LIBERTY. The only way I am sure it is a 90% silver coin is the way it sounds when taped against another coin. Purchasing through APMEX costs me more overall than purchasing local but I figured the time and hassle saved would be worth the extra cost. Indeed, it would if I could trust I was getting the same quality as the pictured items.

good price for junk silver

I bought just $3 face value of these 90% coins to try out. The washington quarters I received were in really good shape and I like them a lot. I got 4 barbers out of the bunch and they were almost slick and looked visibly thinner vs the washingtons. They were worn pretty bad, but that is the chance you take getting coins from 50-60 or more years ago. I will buy again.

Great Price, Great Service, As Advertised

My first foray into stacking, and decided that 'junk' silver would be a good start. Received a nice roll of Washington quarters, mostly 50's-60's in pretty decent shape, some older 40's and 30's mixed in. Noting I'd consider a cull or slick at all! To say I'm pleased is an understatement. I'll for certain be ordering more from APMEX, and soon!

Pros

  • Value (low premium over spot)
  • Collectible (lower mintage)

I ordered $10 and was a little bummed when I just got a roll of quarters. Until I opened it. More than 14 different dates, a few BU 1964's, one BU 1947, and even a readable 30's. Only one quarter was rough. I will be happy to get another roll next time I order $10!

Pros

  • Attractive Design

I am a first time silver buyer, ordered five dollars face of this junk silver and was very pleased! Packaging was great and the package arrived a mere 3 days after i ordered it on a Sunday. Only con is that I received nothing but quarters, but each was silver and I was impressed with the great packaging and quick shipping. Thanks Apmex! Will order again soon!

Got: 2 60's Nice Detail 1 50's era Average Wear 1 40's era Junk Grade Now I usually order from another company but i wanted to see how this company was. Now I only got $1.00 worth of "silver" but i would still recommend that other company that I cannot adress. They have lower premiums also, by like 40 cents and I have gotten some really nice quality "junk silver" from them. Now again I havent bought in bulk from this company but just my 2 cents.
