$10 Face-Value lot of 90% Silver Coins Culls

$10 Face-Value lot of 90% Silver Coins Culls

Any quantity only $1.49 per oz over spot!
This lot contains approximately 7 oz of Silver! These cull coins will be damaged, bent, holed, slick, dateless, ugly, etc. Best to keep your expectations of quality low, but they are an excellent Silver value!

Pre-1965 90% Silver coins, sometimes referred to as junk Silver or scrap Silver, are a great way to start your Silver investments. These Silver coins were pulled from circulation with the introduction of copper/nickel clad coins and the rising demand of Silver. The public saved them for their 90% Silver content as a rainy day fund they can fall back on.

90% Cull Quarters

By  Investing on a budget

from Grand Rapids, MN

4.0

My first purchase from APMEX and overall I am pleased with everything. I purchased $10 face value 90% US coins (culls) for a lower price than any competitor I found. The product was exactly that, beat up with a couple having holes drilled. They weighed right and I am only interested in silver content anyway. I will certainly purchase from APMEX again.

Pros

  • Value (low premium over spot)
  • Easy to Sell
  • Recognized Brand

Cons

  • Common (higher mintage)
  • Poor Condition

Fair deal but know what you're buying

I ordered $70.00 face value cull coins of this product. What I got was 29 Barber halves, 71 Walking Liberty halves, 11 Franklin halves, 9 Kennedy halves, 38 Standing Liberty quarters and 2 Washington quarters. Nearly all the Barber halves, Walking Liberty halves and the Standing Liberty quarters were slick and/or dateless. What coins out of the entire lot that weren't slicks were either bent, defaced, holed or had heavy glue or paint on them. I managed to get the glue and paint off with solvent and a dental pick. The weights were shy for slick/dateless coins. Average silver content weight for each $1.00 face value was as follows: Barber halves, .647 tr. Oz, Walking Liberty halves, .663 tr. Oz, Standing Liberty quarters, .663 tr. Oz. This means that slick/dateless coins are about 7% shy in weight from the standard .715 tr. Oz for junk silver 90% coins. In comparison, the 1964 Kennedy halves weighed in at .722 tr. Oz and the 1960's Washington quarters weighed in at .720 tr. Oz of pure silver per $1.00 face. I liked and recommend this product not for the silver weight but for all the really OLD coins that come with it. I mean I got lots of INTERESTING coins, some over 100 years old! This is more interesting that lots of boring silver Washington quarters and Roosevelt dimes with higher weights. They're BORING! So, if you want variety, interesting and historical coins try this deal out...if all you care about is silver go for the heavier, newer and very boring 90% coin deals APMEX also offers. I had one complaint...I received one (only one) 1967 dated 40% silver Kennedy half due to a sorting error. I am hoping APMEX will make this right for me.

Cool old coins!

I like 90 percent coins as a way to collect silver because they're interesting to me. The coins I got were all quarters and included some Barbers, Washingtons and even an old Seated Liberty. These coins are not in "collectible" condition of course but they're better than I expected and well worth the price. Also, I weighed my 40 quarters on a halfway decent gram scale and got 244.3 grams - a little over 7.86 troy ounces, for 7.07 troy ounces of pure silver given the 90 percent silver content of these coins. So the total silver weight is actually more than advertised.

I will be looking forward to buying more of these.

Los of fun receiving these coins. I was pleased to find a 2013 Proof Kennedy silver half dollar in the mix! Nice variety too- Nothing says "Smile" like when holding a handful of old silver coins. I think I will give some as Christmas presents so my family and friends can share in the joy of owning silver coins too. Thank you Apmex!

Pros

  • Value (low premium over spot)
  • Attractive Design
  • Collectible (lower mintage)

Bought $10 dollar face value and was quite impressed by the delivery time, two days. I would like to go out say that these will be CULL, got a couple of awfully damaged Kennedys and a Franklin with a hole punched through it, got a good amount of barbers that were chipped but also buffed and cleaned. Would probably not buy again but hey, it's still silver.

  • Value (low premium over spot)

Cons

  • Unattractive Design

Cons

A great way to accumulate silver.

I received quarters, almost all Standing Liberty, a couple of Barber and Washington. Most were dateless Type II, a couple of Type I, so most of the silver was there and they look nice. Several dateless Type III, Cull is the right word. A few dated Type III, and the Washington and Barbers had dates. I have and will order more of these.

Pros

  • Value (low premium over spot)
  • Attractive Design
  • Easy to Sell

A Good Value.

I tried this $10.00 bag because of the reasonable price. All were quarters, mostly Standing Liberty, most didn't have dates, but a lot of them were the Type 2 (raised date) so the date is missing but most of the silver is there. Also a couple of Washington and Barber quarters.

Pros

  • Easy to Sell
  • Recognized Brand
  • Value (low premium over spot)

Nice lot

Ordered 1 lot with some other junk silver and a couple of slabs. Got all quarters, mostly standing liberty. Good if you want some cheap 90% to add to your collection/stack. Shipping is also speedy. The only con is that despite receiving some VF+ gems, most coins are in low condition.

Pros

  • Value (low premium over spot)

Cons

  • Poor Condition
