Product Description

Over 150 years old, these smallest coins made by the U.S. Mint are an excellent way to hold small amounts of gold.

After the discovery of gold in California, these coins were issued as an alternative to the bulky silver dollar. Designed by James B. Longacre, this $1 Liberty Head Gold coin was minted from 1849-1854. Containing .048375 oz. of Gold, this is the smallest gold coin ever minted in the U.S. These coins are authenticated and graded as being in MS-61 condition.

Random Year - Date(s) on these coins will be of our choosing and may or may not vary. The grading service, (PCGS or NGC) is determined by stock on hand.

As you continue to browse APMEX, you will find our multi-million dollar rare coin and bullion inventory contains Pre-1933 US gold, rare coins, numismatic rarities, and silver dollars for both the novice and the expert.
