This medal of Mexico, struck on a 10 peso gold planchet, contains .2411 of an ounce of gold. The purpose of this issue is to honor the Bicentennial of Miguel Hidalgo's birth. The design depicts a half portrait of Hidalgo with a cathedral in the background. In fact, this is the exact design of the 1953 silver 5 peso, KM#468.
