This silver Denarius was struck sometime during the reign of Emperor Severus Alexander (222 - 235 AD). The last emperor of the Severan dynasty, he acceded to the throne upon the assassination of Elagabalus in 222. Being Roman emperor had its hazards, since Alexander was himself assassinated in 235.
Approximate specs of the coin are: (19mm x 2.4g).
Obverse: Laureate bust right. IMP SEV ALEXAND AVG.
Reverses vary. The coins in this listing are from the famous Seven Hills Hoard, and have been graded Extra Fine by NGC.
