Round Highlights:

  • Contains 1 oz of .999 fine Silver.
  • Individual rounds come in protective plastic flips. Multiples of 20 come in plastic tubes and boxes contain multiples of 500.
  • The design of these rounds is based on the original coin issued by the U.S. Mint. These rounds carry no actual face value.
  • Obverse: Depicts a Native American with the motto "LIBERTY" on top right.
  • Reverse: Black Diamond, an American bison (buffalo) atop a mound of dirt. Fraser sketched this design in the New York Central Park Zoo.

The history of the Silver Buffalo round

The Silver Buffalo round is a contemporary round that pays tribute to the original Buffalo Nickel, or Indian Head Nickel, minted from 1913 to 1938. The original was not Silver bullion, but a copper-nickel five-cent piece designed by James Earle Fraser, a student of the legendary sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The 1 oz Silver round design was in use for 25 years on the Buffalo Nickel and disappeared until 2001, when the American Buffalo Commemorative coin was released. When you buy Precious Metals like Silver Buffalo rounds for your investment portfolio, you are also buying a piece of U.S. history.

Why invest in Silver Buffalo rounds?

This 1 oz Silver round delivers on an attractive design and an even more attractive low premium over spot price of Silver. This Silver Buffalo round is one ounce so it is easy to compare: See for yourself how close one of these beautiful rounds is to the current Silver spot price. This Silver bullion round allows you to collect a larger amount of Silver over time, adding individual Silver Buffalo rounds to every order or in multiples of 20 in plastic tubes or boxes which contain multiples of 50 when you like the current Silver spot price. When you buy Precious Metals with an eye toward investment, you do not always have to sacrifice beauty. This Silver round adapted from James Earle Fraser’s 1913 Buffalo Nickel proves it.

Buy Silver rounds when you want to balance your investment portfolio.

Rounds, like the Silver Buffalo round, are Precious Metals that are round like coins, but they do not have a face value and are not legal tender. A 1 oz Silver round would be purchased primarily to own Precious Metals and hold physical Silver as an investment. When you buy Precious Metals in the form of Silver coins, you are buying a Precious Metal produced by private mints. Unlike Silver bullion rounds, Silver coins have a face and legal tender status and are produced by government mints. Modern Silver coins like Silver bullion rounds are often produced for investment purposes as well.

All Rounds Scratched

By  Late Investor

I purchased 20 of these rounds for both the silver weight and for the classic buffalo nickel design. I was sad to see that all 20 have a scratch in the exact same spot near the tail of the buffalo. I understand that these are mass production bullion rounds. However, I did not expect all 20 rounds to have an identical scratch in the mirror finish that stands out like a sore thumb.

Pros

  • Value (low premium over spot)
  • Attractive Design
  • Easy to Sell

Cons

  • Poor Condition

This coin didn't meet my expectations

I really like the classic design of this coin but was disappointed by the overall quality of it. The center of the coin is very rough and dull almost looks like there is a thumb print on it. It looks like someone touched it while it was cooling. I will not buy anymore of these coins.

Pros

  • Value (low premium over spot)
  • Attractive Design

Cons

  • Poor Condition

I read several of the negative reviews and it made me a bit apprehensive to make the purchase. I pulled the trigger anyway and received a very nice piece, no scratches or blemishes and very nice luster. I love the classic design of the coin and it brought me back to my childhood collecting Buffalo Nickels.

Pros

  • Value (low premium over spot)

Cons

  • Common (higher mintage)

Eh they are alright

All the comments about them being scratched and sorta tarnished are true but to an extent. Yes they are not mint condition but it's bullion. In my eyes as long as it's not god aweful looking then it'all be fine. Especially for the price I picked them up for on sale, I can't complain. I would not buy these unless they are on sale though.

Cons

  • Unattractive Design
  • Poor Condition

Invest in Silver bullion and other Precious Metals that are always being traded around the globe.

When investors buy Precious Metals, they are usually very aware of the Silver spot price, which is the current unfabricated price of Silver in real time. Unlike stocks, Silver bullion and coins don’t have a daily closing price. Silver, like that in the Silver Buffalo round, is traded 24/7 as part of commodity markets around the world, the most important gauge for Silver prices today being the New York Commodity Exchange (COMEX). When you buy a 1 oz Silver round, you pay a premium price that is based on the spot price of Silver (the result of supply and demand around the world) plus markups for fabrication, distribution, minor dealers’ fees and any numismatic collector value.
