These 8 Reales were one of the most commonly used coins facilitating global exchange during the 19th century, seeing widespread use in trade as far away as the Orient. Due to the longstanding history and stability of the Spanish coinage, these coins even circulated widely in the United States in competition with America's own Silver dollars.

Two of the stars are for a smooth exchange process. Of the two I initially received, one was very slick and the other pretty slick with a hole in it. Not at all as pictured. The replacements have quite a bit of detail for the age, both have been cleaned a couple times.

Now is the hour of my discontent. This product, though advertised as average circulated, I feel was misrepresented by the image of the product in the catalogue. Firstly, I was expecting wear, but not to the extent of this coin. The cap is barely noticable, and has become a metallic schmere. The only visible letters are "L and I and part of the B", disappearing into the blurry cloud. Not much better on the obverse, where any semblance of feathers are non existent. Might as well be a teradactyl. I have never posted a negative review, but I have never been disatisfied before.

Cons

  • Hard to Sell
  • Poor Condition

In very acceptable condition for what was advertised; mint marks and dates very clear, even the "o" in Go. modest wear. Feathers remain on eagle's breast, the eagle's eye is still apparent. This is "real live' pirate treasure, as close as I will get to being a pirate! And great America's history for youth and adults.

Pros

  • Collectible (lower mintage)
  • Easy to Sell
  • Recognized Brand
