Product Details

The Canadian Mint at Ottawa only struck gold sovereigns for ten years between 1908 and 1919. The Ottawa mint was set up to coin the gold, which had only recently been discovered in British Columbia and the Yukon. Mintage of only 106,570. This sovereign of George V was issued for just a few short years. Depicted is the classic rendition of St. George slaying a dragon on the reverse. Just below the back hoof of the horse, you can see the C mintmark used for sovereigns struck in Canada.
