The history of Silver Bullion

The event that most impacted Silver Bullion history is argued to be the discovery of the New World in 1492. Silver, like that found in the modern day 10 oz Silver bar, took on a dominant role in currencies around the world. When you buy Silver bars today, the Silver is likely to originate from the top Silver-producing countries including Mexico, Peru and China; between 1500 and 1800, New World countries Bolivia, Peru and Mexico accounted for 85% of all world production and trade. The Silver you place in your Precious Metals IRA now comes from a broader range of countries, including the United States, which had its first significant discovery of Silver, the Comstock Lode in Nevada, announced to the general public in 1859.

Why invest in Silver bullion?

Buying these stackable 10 oz Silver bars allows you to keep investing simple. This Silver bullion’s innovative design makes it easy to stack and store securely. When you buy these Silver bars, you can add larger quantities of .999 fine Silver to the stack with fewer pieces to worry about. These Silver bars are also eligible for Precious Metals IRAs, so saving for retirement just got easier, too.

Buy Silver bars for a Precious Metals IRA and balance your portfolio.

Starting a Precious Metal IRA with Silver bullion and other Precious Metals can help diversify your investments and can often act as a hedge against unstable markets. Add 10 oz Silver bars or other Precious Metals just as you would paper currency to a standard IRA after setting up a custodian. Precious Metals are held in custody for the IRA owner and just like regular IRAs, any profits on your Silver investments sales can be tax deferred as long as the proceeds are kept with your reinvestment custodian or transferred to another IRA account. You must buy Silver bars that contain .999 fine Silver to be eligible for inclusion in a self-directed Precious Metals IRA.

Good product, price, stacks perfectly. Expecting mint condition, but disappointed. Like others have noted, these will come with dings and scratches. Not a huge deal as I'm not buying them for that reason.

I like that this bar was nice and thick I also liked that it didn't have a fancy design or else I may have shied away from it. I like the big bold APMEX logo on the bar. To ell you the truth and being a noob at this I think I made a good first purchase. I'll be back for more but I already purchased more

Great Bars, not so great condition sometimes.

Let's get the bad out of the way first. The bars aren't super great condition wise. They always fit well together so there's no issues there but I think the in warehouse handling isn't so good. You're not buying this for design or beauty, it's pretty inexpensive and it's easy to sell, which is totally fine. Being as large as they are, I trust quality control can fix this issue. I have bought 4 bars in the last month so I'm not opposed to them, I keep buying them because I know what to expect and I don't mind it so much. The shipping is always free and quick which is another great selling point. I will continue to purchase from them. They may not be the cheapest but they do good business and I like to stick with one place.

Pros

  • Value (low premium over spot)
  • Easy to Sell

Cons

  • Poor Condition

this is not my first purchase from APMEX, however, it is my first 10oz APMEX stackable bar. it was shipped in a plastic bag and not packaged in a box with cushioning as my other bars have arrived. the top and bottom of the bar was fine but was very disappointed to see scratching on all sides. unless they can assure me they will take better care in packaging I will not be ordering anymore.

Stackable 10 oz Silver Bar

By  Mike

from Killeen, TX

This is not my first time buying from APMEX as I really love your product specially the quality. Not this time... This is the second time over the past 3 years that the silver I purchase arrives in bad shape. The 10oz APMEX Silver stackable bar looks half decent on the back side while the top/front side has scratches, dents and blemishes that are not attractive at all. The 5 oz APMEX bar looks like it was dropped multiple times with all corners dented and the other one side the edge is very rough all the way around.

Pros

  • Value (low premium over spot)
  • Attractive Design
  • Collectible (lower mintage)

Cons

  • Poor Condition

I got this as I am just beginning to purchase PMs. I like it for the stackable design which will make it easier to store. Only thing I wish it had is a SN. Bar came in a hardware style plastic bag (sealed, clear on one side, white on the other with product info) in a well padded box. I would recommend these to a friend and plan to purchase more in the future.

Buy Silver Bullion when Precious Metals content is your top priority.

Bullion, for example a 10 oz Silver bar, was named after Charles de Bullion, the French Minister of Finance under Louis XIII from 1632 to 1640. Silver Bullion refers to Silver in bulk form (usually bars) traded on commodity markets, with its value determined primarily by its Silver content. When you buy Silver bars, the Silver content is determined by the purity and mass. The premium price of Silver bullion you pay is then based on the unfabricated Silver price known as the spot price plus costs of distribution, fabrication, nominal dealer fee and any numismatic collector fee.
