$5 roll of Mercury dimes arrived safely and quickly. It's fun to imagine that some soldiers during World War II might have accidentally carried a few of my dimes with them to Europe or Japan. Some of my older Mercury dimes might have been passed on to a victim of the Great Depression so he or she could buy a cup of coffee or a loaf of bread.

The dimes are in pretty good shape, as advertised. Most are from 1941-1945, but a few are from the 1930s, and I think one was from the 1920s. The redbook value of all of them was no more than about $3, but still, fun purchase.

I never expect much from 'average circulated' but I do expect at least good with no issues. In one roll one had a hole, and two looked like they had been hacked by tin snips. Three out of 50 does not make the order worth returning, but I would not buy 'average circulated' halves or dollars based upon the condition of these. The rest were problem free and graded good to very fine with a nice mix of dates and conditions.

Comments about 90% Silver Mercury Dimes $5 50-Coin Roll Average Circ:

With average circulated condition of coins this old, I did not expect the coins to be in AU or even XF condition. I did, however, expect them to be in at least Good condition with maybe one or two AG for good measure.

When I got the roll, it looked a couple of millimeters short. I compared with a roll of Roosevelts, and sure enough the roll was 2 mm shorter. Additionally, there was a tear at one end that could have resulted in one or more dimes lost in handling. None were found within the packaging--hence, I opened the roll to make sure if any were indeed missing (having fallen out through the hole at the top).

What I got was mostly dates in the 1942-45 area, with a few in the 1920s and 1930s thrown in for good measure (along with two Roosevelt dimes--maybe more care to ensure only Mercury dimes end up in these rolls is in order). I found one dime that was either 1918 or 1919--I could not tell because the last digit was badly worn. This coin was in Fair condition. A few others were in AG or worse condition. The issue is that in Fair condition, the coin will be underweight if you are going for silver. On the good side, a few, including one in the 1920s, were in VF condition.

I do recommend anyone that is interested in varying your collection to include these dimes. Just beware of the occasional Roosevelt dime mixed in, and that condition is likely to be an issue (the Barbers, being older, are even more likely to be in Fair or worse condition). And, for the record, I counted the dimes and yes, there were 50 in the roll so no shortage of dimes. You want all XF or AU, you will have to pay more--the price was in line with what I got.

Product came as advertised in Average Circulated condition. Only a couple pretty worn but was able to read all dates. Got a 1926 in decent condition! Mostly received 1930s and 40s. Pretty cool to think these were being used around the time of World War 2. Very pleased.

I would call this an average circulated roll you could get out of circulation in the mid-60's. F-AU from the 40's, AG-G from the 20's. Nothing spectacular but that is pretty much what I expected.

Figured I would pick up some junk silver to diversify my stack and take advantage of the free shipping promotion. Order came in a nice tight roll of 50, mostly dates in the 40's and the majority of the coins are in decent condition. I did have a Roosevelt sneak in the roll, and a few coins are very worn and damaged. Glad I ordered from APMEX but not sure if I will be ordering these dimes again.

                    Service and delivery comments:

Super fast shipping as usual, very well packaged.

I am an avid buyer at Apmex. I love their 90% silver. I had a bad experience buying extra fine merks, so I figured I would just buy a circulated roll. OK range of dates. Some 1917, 1921, but early dates were worn badly. A few Roosevelts found their way in. I believe there were 3. I was not too happy about that, as I am paying a premium. Other than that, no complaints.

I love to think my Dad may have had dimes like this in his pocket during World War II. Condition is as described, piece of history, easy on the checkbook and 90% silver. What's not to like?
