This gold coin is from the reign of John III Ducas emperor of Nicaea (1222 - 1254 AD), Approx. 4.0g. These coins were also known as syphates, thin cup shaped flans, also struck in silver and bronze.
Obverse: Christ enthroned.
Reverse: John standing left by Virgin right. Very Fine condition.
