Pre-1965 90% Silver coins, sometimes referred to as junk Silver or scrap Silver, are a great way to start your Silver investments. These Silver coins were pulled from circulation with the introduction of copper/nickel clad coins and the rising demand of Silver. The public saved them for their 90% Silver content as a rainy day fund they can fall back on.

Not As Nice As I Had Hoped

"Average Circulated" is always a risk with this type of coin compared to say, Kennedy or Franklin half-dollars. These coins had plenty of time to get worn - and they did. All were in the 1940's (I think) except for a single 1917. These all graded a solid Good to Fine, with a couple having rim dings. Two were below AG03 using PCGS Photograde (as low as they go on their website) with nothing remotely discernible for a date, and one 1940 had serious rim damage. I would consider these three culls. You'd be better off with a higher condition for Walkers than "average circulated" if you want this type of coin, or a different type of half-dollar. I've found the average circulated Franklins from APMEX to be much better than expected.

Just bought a roll of these a couple of days ago. I ordered them on Thursday and they arrived on Friday. In general the coins were as advertised although there was one "dud". Received a nice variety of dates and mint marks. Not only will I order again; I already did! Too bad I couldn't have given 4.5 stars instead as I wasn't blown away but was certainly pleased.

Walkers stumble, but it's good silver

I ordered a roll of Walking Liberty half dollars for their silver content and possible collector value - I got a little of both - most of the coins were as advertised, worn but satisfactory, a few were better than average and three coins had problems: one coin had a date nearly gone, one coin was beautiful but its edge had been hammered flat in a few spots, and the third coin, a beautifully shiny 1917, had been buffed and polished so enthusiastically that only 11.9 grams of coin weight remained. Buy these coins for their silver content only - if you want 20 collecible coins, order the better grade rolls.

I Dont Know...

I ran into a few issues with these coins. To start things off, there was only 19 coins in the roll, making a total of $9.50. I'm not quite sure how this happened from APMEX's side, as I received two other rolls of half dollars and the Walking Liberty ones were noticeably shorter. Other than this issue, the coins themselves have a great design, but as can be expected with coins in average condition they were a bit worn. Save yourself a bit of time and order the Franklin or Kennedy halves which seemed to be a bit better overall in quality, and most importantly they were all there.
