The obverse depicts Liberty seated facing right with a ship and mountains in the background. Liberty is seated on cotton bale, her right hand holding a caduceus and in her left out stretched hand holding an olive branch. The inscription LIBERTY is above, the date 1876 is below and 13 stars are arranged around the border seven left, six right. The reverse, a spread-wing eagle is perched on a shield three arrows, an olive branch. IN GOD WE TRUST is inscribed on a scroll above the eagle. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA on the upper border and the denomination ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS at the lower border.
This privately issued piece was struck in 2005 using a proposed design for a pattern $100 Union attributed to George T. Morgan. The coin is mounted in an oversize NGC holder.
