First branch mint dollar - one of only 4 years made in New Orleans for this type!
This Extra Fine Liberty Seated Dollar bears the "O" mint mark as one of only 59,000 struck at the New Orleans Mint in 1846, making it a tough coin to locate.
The Liberty Seated Dollar, designed by Christian Gobrecht, was minted from 1840 to 1873. Seated Liberty Silver Dollars were primarily minted in Philadelphia, although there are 12 different branch mint issues. In its 33 year run, less than 7 million Liberty Seated Dollars were struck.
