This gold Solidus was struck during the reign of Emperor Theodosius II (402 - 450 AD). Commonly referred to as Theodosius the Younger, he reigned with the help of a regent and on his own for over 48 years making him one of the longest to sit on (or share) the throne. Approx. specifications of this coin are: (20mm X 4.4g).
Obverse: Helmeted head bust right holding spear and shield.
Reverse: Constantinopolis enthroned. CONOB in ex.

This coin has been graded Choice Extra Fine by NGC.
Theodosius II was the son of Arcadius and Eudoxia. Struck at the Constantinople mint.
