Series 1935-A $1 Silver Certificate- R overprint. Fr.# 1609. These interesting notes were part of a BEP experiment to test the comparative durabilities of different types of paper in circulation. The R (regular) and S (special) notes were put into circulation in mid 1944. No conclusive results were found from this trial. Just under 1.2 million of each were printed, so these are relatively scarce when compared to regular issues of series 1935. These R overprint notes being offered are in Very Good to Fine condition.
