The history of APMEX Gold rounds

A 1/4 oz Gold round is measured in troy ounces, the only measure of the troy weighting system still used in modern times. Gold rounds for sale have been measured in troy ounces since the Middle Ages. To calculate the weight of fractional Gold rounds, understand that 1 troy ounce is about 10 percent heavier than the avoirdupois ounce commonly used in the United States, and the troy ounce equals 31.1034768 grams. Some Gold bullion is listed in grams and kilograms, but prices are converted from the troy ounce spot price of Gold in U.S. dollars, which is the basis measure for Precious Metals prices.

Why invest in 1/4 oz Gold rounds?

A 1/4 oz Gold round is a favored hedge against inflation, offering a value that is the same everywhere in the world. Gold rounds for sale are available at a minimal amount over the Gold spot price, making Gold rounds easier to liquidate when the time comes. Fractional Gold rounds also make it easier to fit your budget. Gold bullion rounds offer the same beauty and fineness as legal tender coins but typically with a lower premium over spot price.

A 1/4 oz Gold round available at APMEX is easy to recognize and marked for your peace of mind.

The 1/4 oz Gold round carrying the APMEX logo and web address is an example of the quality promised by APMEX. These APMEX-branded fractional Gold rounds are manufactured by Sunshine Minting, one of the leading suppliers of domestic and global Precious Metal and base-metal minted products. For Gold rounds, we offer competitive and transparent pricing, with real-time bid and ask prices listed on the site and no hidden fees. Buy Gold bullion from a trusted source such as APMEX.

My interest is to start collecting APMEX valued coinage with a possibility for resale. Not primary but secondary, I would like to be able to make affordable purchases when I can

Pros

  • Value (low premium over spot)
  • Collectible (lower mintage)
  • Easy to Sell
  • Mint Condition
  • Recognized Brand

I like it!

I really like the design of these rounds. I've had a couple of the smaller ones, but you can really see the details in the larger ones. They fit perfectly in the 1/4 ounce eagle capsule, and they're several dollars cheaper, too. And with APMEX on the front, they should be no problem to sell when the time comes.

Pros

  • Attractive Design
  • Easy to Sell
  • Mint Condition
  • Recognized Brand

looks great

This round looks great and feels great in my hands. APMEX delivered fast as usual. The only con is a small black spot on the back side of the round. It's the only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars. It came off easily but that spot is stained a darker color than the round. Other than that, I love the mirrored background finish and design. I'll definitely be getting more of these in the future and I'll always know APMEX will buy these back for a great price!

Pros

  • Easy to Sell
  • Attractive Design
  • Value (low premium over spot)

Cons

  • Small Black Spot

Got a few of these and I LOVEEEE them. I many not want to get rid of whole ounces, so nice that I can break up an ounce into four, sell one and keep the other 3. If the time comes to sell, I go with these first.

Buying Gold rounds takes advantage of the typically lower premium over spot prices.

When buying a 1/4 oz Gold round, you will see two different prices: the Gold spot price and the purchase price, which includes the premium price of Gold. Gold rounds for sale are never sold at the spot price because that is the base price of unfabricated Gold and that price changes by the second. When you buy fractional Gold rounds, or any other Precious Metal product, you also pay the premium Gold spot price, which includes markups for distribution, fabrication, dealer fees and any collector value. Gold bullion in the form of rounds typically has little to no collector value and smaller production costs so you usually play less of a premium over spot price.
