Comments about $1 Liberty Head Gold - Type 1 - (Heavily Damaged):

I bought this Liberty Head gold $1 coin to have a much cheaper, heavily damaged, coin to compare with my extra fine Liberty Head gold $1 coin. I knowingly purchased a heavily damaged coin but was still disappointed when I noticed there was a small hole drilled through it. After some research, I found that many people were hoarding the coins and using them as jewelry rather than currency. I guess I was lucky that the hole tells a story of how many people used these coins back in the day. I would not recommend this coin for melt value or collection unless already have a finer version.
