The South African 1/2 Pound gold coin was issued only for a short time (1953-1960), and during that time less than 12,000 were struck, so these are much harder to find than the 1 Rand coins that replaced them in 1961. Each coin contains .1177 oz. of Gold. Queen Elizabeth II appears on the obverse, while a Springbok gazelle appears on the reverse. Coins in this listing may be Brilliant Uncirculated, and may have light contact marks. Dates will be of our choice. Listed in Krause as KM#53.
