Julia Grant was the wife of the 18th President of the United States. This is the second of four coins to be issued in 2011, and the 19th overall in the series.
Julia Dent met Ulysses Grant at her family's plantation, White Haven. Ulysses, 26, married Julia, 22, on August 22, 1848 at White Haven. General Grant won decisive victories at Shiloh in April 1862, Vicksburg in July 1863, and Chattanooga in November 1863. Julia was beside him as he rose to be one of the most famous generals in American history and, ultimately, the 18th President.
The reverse of this Gold coin represents a scene of Julia and Ulysses riding horses at White Haven.
