Product Details

The Apostle Paulus was born in Tarsus. Today, Tarsus is an area in Turkey. During Paulus’ lifetime Tarsus was an important Greco-Roman city and also the capital of the Roman province “Cilicia”. Paul’s father was a Pharisee and tent-maker in Tarsus. Paul inherited his Roman citizenship and learned the craft of tent-making. He financed his livelihood as a missionary, in his later life. Since he saw the apparition of Jesus, on his way to Damascus, Paul preached Christianity in the synagogues of Damascus. The Apostle Paul probably died in 67, while under the persecution of Nero. From June 28 2008 until June 29 2009 the 2000th return of the people’s apostle Pas was celebrated. According to the St. Paul’s Year the country of Liberia issued this coin with the years 2008 and 2009. The coin depicts on its obverse a portrait of St. Paul and his life stations in pictures around him.

Comments about 2009 1/25 oz $25 Gold Paulus Thaler:

It is smaller than a dime, but it is one of the smallest denominations of gold coins that I can find. That brings it within my limited price range. Easy to conceal and easy to lose. It is also one of the most intricate designs that I have seen -especially for one of such a small size- and it is one of the few coins with any Christian symbols.
