Product Details

The U.S. Trade dollar was created for use in the Orient, in hopes that American trade could be carried out with them instead of Spanish or Mexican dollars. Designed by William Barber and containing .7874 oz of silver, these Trade Dollars are in Almost Uncirculated condition and date from 1873 to 1878. In the five-year run that Trade Dollars were minted, less than 36 million pieces were struck.

Random Year - Date(s) will be of our choosing and may or may not vary, determined by stock on hand.

Poor quality coin received

2.0

I bought this coin to add a higher grade Trade Dollar to my collection. The coin received was sold as AU condition. The coin was sent to PCGS to be professionally graded and slabbed. Upon return of the coin from PCGS, it was graded as Genuine due to damage from "tooling" and the details as XF. This is a very different coin grade than was sold on this site. I will never be buying another coin from this company, unless it has already been slabbed by a recognized third party grader.

Cons

  • Hard to Sell
  • Incorrect Grade
  • Damaged Coin

Very high quality coin. I am truly impressed. There is a few bag marks which was to be expected but other than that great 1877 example of a Trade Dollar. I will order these again.
