It contains 0.643 oz of fine Silver. The reverse of this coin is dedicated to the Adler Locomotive. The locomotive is shown (in color) on a run through the Bavarian landscape. The Adler was the first steam locomotive to be used sucessfully for commercial use in Germany. It was built in 1835 by the British railway pioneers George and Robert Stephenson, in Newcastle, England. This coal burning "Iron Horse" was delivered to Germany and began its service life Dec. 7, 1835, for the Bavarian Ludwig Railway, running between Nuremburg and Furth.
